Though the theme and history had an interesting premise, the book was too drawn out and jumped around too much with too many characters and too many long sections that moved slowly. Hard to follow. Reflections has a good pace, and once in awhile there's a laugh-out-loud moment, but I couldn't warm up to the lead characters all that much. They were too busy snapping and gripping with each other and other people for me to care about them. For a better time-travel/romance, I highly recommend the Diana Gabaldon series. For an Ancient Egypt story, brave the bulk of Margaret George's 'Memoirs of Cleopatra'.
Frank presents a fascinating view of ancient Egypt. The author weaves in biblical stories with action and adventure. It's more than a love story.
This is my second time reading this book. I read it 10 years ago. I love it even more. Since I was 12 I've loved reading anything about Egypt.
first book in the series, so get this one first, or order them all together, ancient places, time travel and full of magic and surprises.
Ms. Frank triggers in on the scant amount of information in the Bible to base her Egyptian/Isrealite saga of a woman thrust back into time during 'Ten Commandments' era Egypt. There is no historical validity to her assumption that this episode in the Bible took place during the reign of Egypt's only female pharoah. In fact, historians place the Exodus during the time of Ramses II. While interesting and integral to the story, I find Frank's bending of the facts felonious to the first rule of writing make your story believable and indisputable. Sorry, but this one fails the initial test.
This is a very interesting book. I found it accidentally. I was shopping for books by Diana Gabaldon, who writes hisorical time travel books set in historic Scotland. Very good books. The kind you cannot put down, but you do have to work tomorrow. So you must close the book.

This book is also time travel, but in Egypt.
The story was an interesting concept, but the characters seemed a little stiff and uninspiring. Connecting the storyline with Bible stories gave the story more interest, but even so the novel lagged for me from the middle through the last quarter of the book. The most frustrating thing for me was the frequent typos, misspelled words and wrongly placed punctuation in my version. The errors seemed to get even more frequent toward the end of the book. This causes me to be pulled right out of the story, diminishes my reading pleasure, and is the main reason for my 3 stars.
